    Yesterday, Wynton rehearsed with Richard Galliano. The song they rehearsed are: Comes love, La Foule, Them There Eyes, If You Love Me, Miss Brown To You, What a little Moonlight Can Do, Padam, Billie, A Sailboat in the Moonligth, L’Homme á la Moto, Strange Fruit, La Vie en Rose.
    Following you can enjoy some photos from the rehearsals and a short video-clip of Wynton’s duet with Richard Galliano on the notes of “L’Homme á la Moto” (The Man on the Bike).

  • Marciac 2008: First rehearsal day with the Quintet

    Today, Wynton and his Quintet (Walter Blanding, Dan Nimmer, Carlos Henriquez, Ali Jackson) rehearsed together for the upcoming concert with Richard Galliano. Wynton wrote some nice arrangements (just wrote…) and tomorrow Mr. Galliano will come with his accordion to rehearse with the Quintet. The song they played today are: Them There Eyes, Comes Love, A Sailboat in the Moonlight, Miss Brown to You, What a Little Moonlight Can Do, Strange Fruit, La Foule, La Vie en Rose, Billie.

  • Marciac 2008: photos from Master Class and Septet’s concert

    On August 8, the Wynton Marsalis Septet performed for the concert at Marciac Jazz Festival, starting at 11 pm. Wynton, Wes Anderson, Marcus Roberts, Wycliffe Gordon, Reginald Veal and Victor Goines performed wonderfully on that night. The setlist was: Majesty of the Blues, Free to Be, And the Band Played On, Son, Spiritual Awakening, Green Chimneys, Superb Starling, Altar Call, Sunflowers. Encore: The Death of Jazz, Knozz-Moe-King, Happy Feet Blues. On August 7, Wynton also gave a master class for the new kids at Marciac’s College.

    Wynton wears crisp suits, reads sheet music and is the musical director of New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center. Willie wears crumpled jeans, wings it onstage and runs his concert venue, Willie’s Place, out of a truck stop in Abbott, Texas. So what exactly do these music legends have in common? The blues, of course.
