Marciac 2008: First rehearsal day with the Quintet

Today, Wynton and his Quintet (Walter Blanding, Dan Nimmer, Carlos Henriquez, Ali Jackson) rehearsed together for the upcoming concert with Richard Galliano. Wynton wrote some nice arrangements and tomorrow, Mr. Galliano will come with his accordion to rehearse with the Quintet. The song they played today are: Them There Eyes, Comes Love, A Sailboat in the Moonlight, Miss Brown to You, What a Little Moonlight Can Do, Strange Fruit, La Foule, La Vie en Rose, Billie.

  8. It is very refreshing to play in 2008 La Vie En Rose. A lot of young people and older too are not exposed enough to this kind of music. I am not a musician, but I noticed that the phrasing of the trumpet is very much in tune with the tenor sax like a conversation going on.Also I hear the up right bass reminds me as a gait keeper for the two balladers(the trumpet and the sax) I also noticed that the hor players allow the music to breathe like you hear what everybody is saying! keep up with your true homage for music.
