Wynton celebrates the Jazz Tradition and Culture of “Steeltown”
Jazz at Lincoln Center continues to celebrate the tributary cities of jazz with the From The Heart of Steeltown: Pittsburgh Festival on February 16, 17 & 18 at Frederick P. Rose Hall at Broadway at 60th St. in New York City. This festival focuses on Pittsburgh’s long history in jazz and the many famous names that have come from Steeltown including Billy Strayhorn, songwriter Billy Eckstine, Mary Lou Williams and percussionist Art Blakey, with whom Wynton spent his early days.

Wynton to perform at Tulane University
Wynton will appear on the Tulane University campus on Martin Luther King Day to help celebrate the reopening of Tulane, Xavier, Dillard and Loyola universities, all forced to forgo their fall semesters due to damage inflicted by Hurricane Katrina.

Wynton and the JLCO presents: “Detroit Motor City Jazz”
Jazz at Lincoln Center continues to celebrate the jazz cities of America during the 2005-06 season themed Jazz From Coast to Coast with the week-long Detroit: Motor City Jazz Festival from January 10-15 at Frederick P. Rose Hall on Broadway at 60th St. in New York City and throughout Michigan with performances by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis in East Lansing on January 25 and Jazz at Lincoln Center presents the Music of Miles Davis in Detroit on January 27.

New tour dates for Wynton and LCJO
The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, led by Wynton, will tour through the Midwest next month before traveling to Yokahama (Japan). The first leg of the band’s 2006 Jazz From Coast to Coast Tour will begin in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and include stops in Ohio, Michigan, and Illinois.

Wynton and LCJO tours Ellington’s Nutcracker
