No Jazz at Lincoln Center season would be complete without the perennial Big Band Holidays concert, when Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis—augmented by a world-class jazz singer—offers fresh, swinging arrangements of Christmas classics by its personnel. The guest star for this year’s edition, music-directed by JLCO veteran Victor Goines, is Samara Joy, 24, who joins an all-star roll-call of predecessors that includes Cécile McLorin Salvant, Gregory Porter, Kurt Elling, Rubén Blades, René Marie, Ashley Pezzotti, Vuyo Sotashe, Veronica Swift, and Catherine Russell. “Christmas is the one time when America is not segregated in its music,” says Marsalis. “All the generations come together. For us, it’s meaningful because of all the great classics that come out of a jazz sensibility.”

Jazz Live webcast will be available live on Wednesday, Dec. 14 and on-demand through Tuesday, Dec. 27.
