Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Orchestra play joyful Yuletide jazz
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra made the holiday season swing Monday night at Symphony Hall with an upbeat concert of favorite Christmas songs both sacred and secular. Led by trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, the 17-piece “big band,” plus guest vocalists Veronica Swift and Vuyo Sotashe, performed two colorful, energized sets to an enthusiastic sold-out house. World Premiere of Wynton Marsalis’s Blues Symphony
Robert Spano and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will now premiere selected movements of composer-musician Wynton Marsalis’s new symphonic work, Blues Symphony, November 19-22, 2009 in Atlanta Symphony Hall. The programming change was made in order to give the Orchestra an adequate amount of time to fully realize the composer’s expanded vision for the piece.

Wynton’s work with the Atlanta Symphony postponed
Wynton has postponed the world premiere of his “American Symphony,” his first all-orchestral work. It was originally scheduled to be performed July 19 by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and conductor Robert Spano at the National Black Arts Festival, with repeat performances Nov. 6 and 7 during the ASO’s 2008-09 main season. The premiere is to be rescheduled (dates to be announced).
