    Marsalis Music and Redeye distribution are proud to announce the release of a rare new album by New Orleans’ own Marsalis family August 24, 2010 entitled “Music Redeems.” One of the most famous New Orleans’ multigenerational jazz families gathered together last June at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for a very special evening of celebration, appreciation, and performances as Patriarch, Ellis Marsalis received The Duke Ellington Jazz Festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

    Those fans who gathered in large numbers under Marciac’s great jazz tent in France last summer came to hear celebrated trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and the much-loved accordionist Richard Galliano unveil their collaboration on the music of Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf. Recorded live at the 2008 Marciac Jazz Festival, the music was contemporary yet timeless, with each song exploring the travails of living.

    In the summer of 2008 multiple Grammy award winning jazz artist Wynton Marsalis and his quintet teamed-up with French accordionist Richard Galliano at the annual Jazz in Marciac festival in Southern France to pay tribute to the late jazz legends Billie Holiday and Edith Piaf.
    Richard Galliano, a renowned French-born accordionist who has collaborated with musicians including Chet Baker, Ron Carter and Charlie Haden. Hailed as an extremely versatile musician who is able to masterfully navigate many musical contexts and genres, Galliano is the recipient of the prestigious Academie du Jazz Django Reinhardt Prize awarded annually to the best French musician.
