    Moacir Santos, born to a poor family in Pernambuco (northeastern Brazil, ) is regarded as a walking encyclopedia in the realm of Brazilian instrumental music.
    His new album, entitled Choros and Alegria, counts with the participation of Wynton, who taking opportunity of a concert he would give in São Paulo, insisted in participating of the recording of Choros & Alegria.

  • Higher Ground benefit CD will be released soon

    On November 22, 2005, Blue Note Records will release Higher Ground, a CD that documents Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Higher Ground Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert, a landmark evening of musical offering that was mounted by Wynton on September 17, less than three weeks after Hurricane Katrina imparted its devastation upon the Gulf Coast.

  • Wynton plays in Herlin Riley’s new CD

    On his second Criss Cross date, Herlin Riley, drummer with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra since 1992, assembles an all-star lineup from different eras of the band.
    The new album is entitled: Cream Of The Crescent and the front line comprises Wycliffe Gordon on trombone, Victor Goines on saxes and clarinet, and Wynton on trumpet, with bassist Reginald Veal and pianist Eric Lewis.

  • Wynton plays the music of Charles Mingus

    On October 18, 2005, Palmetto Records will release: Don’t Be Afraid…the music of Charles Mingus, a new album by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.
    The CD features six compositions by the legendary bassist and composer.
    LCJO trombonist, Ron Westray, arranged the music for the recording, which was produced by Delfeayo Marsalis.

  • Listen to the whole Higher Ground Concert at Lincoln Center

  • Upcoming Wynton’s new album for Blue Note

    Post production will be done later this month to prepare for release of a smokin’ live date featuring Wynton’s quartet along with some special guests.
    Recorded last year at the House Of Tribes in NYC the performance features altoman Wes Anderson, drummer Joe Farnsworth, bassist Carlos Henriquez, pianist Eric Lewis and percussionist Orlando Rodriguez, among others.
