This year, the 22nd annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival once again brought top ensembles from all over the United States to perform at the House of Swing in New York City. Watch as the competing musicians receive sage life advice from the judges: Jazz at Lincoln Center’s managing and artistic director Wynton Marsalis; drummer Jeff Hamilton; saxophonist Eria von Kleist; trumpeter Sean Jones; and educator Dr. Bob Morgan.
