To celebrate Ken Burns and Lynn Novick’s newest documentary series, “Prohibition,” the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis celebrate the great music of the “roaring” 20s and early 30s, an era of bootleg hooch, flappers, crooners, and snappy, syncopated sounds. This performance, with video excerpts presented by Ken Burns and featuring musical guest Vince Giordano, evokes a time when jazz was young and America learned to swing to the sounds of Duke Ellington, Bix Beiderbecke, and Jelly Roll Morton.
