The world lost one of the great titans of jazz when saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter passed in 2023. From his work as a side musician with Art Blakey and in Miles Davis’ Second Great Quartet to his sprawling solo career and stint co-leading Weather Report, Shorter helped shape the sound of jazz over seven decades, pushing the music’s boundaries out into the cosmos.
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (who performed with Shorter in 2015) pays homage to his colossal corpus with fresh interpretations of enduring repertoire from influential albums like JuJu, Speak No Evil, and Adam’s Apple.
Don’t miss this celebratory event at Rose Theater that features special guests, master saxophonists Joe Lovano and Walter Blanding.
