The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis returns to perform with the DSO, clarinetist Anthony McGill, and conductor William Eddins. This Classical Roots Celebration concert will feature Marsalis’s own composition Meeelaan featuring DSO Acting Principal Bassoon Michael Ke Ma, Stravinsky’s Ebony Concerto for Clarinet and Jazz Band, and Bernstein’s Prelude, Fugue, and Riffs. The Brazeal Dennard Chorale and Artistic Director Alice McAllister Tillman will also be featured. Classical Roots honors and celebrates African American composers, musicians, educators, and cultural and civic leaders.
