Notes
Wynton Marsalis and members from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra reunite with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for a jazz-inspired program led by conductor Williams Eddins and featuring Principal Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic, Anthony McGill. This Classical Roots Celebration concert will feature Bernstein’s Prelude, Fugue, and Riffs, Stravinsky’s Ebony Concerto for Clarinet and Jazz Band, and Marsalis’s own Meeelaan, written for bassoon and string quartet. Classical Roots honors and celebrates African-American composers, musicians, educators, and cultural and civic leaders.
