Wynton Marsalis leading a Jazz for Young People concert on New Orleans jazz at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Marsalis teaches the students about the elements of New Orleans-style jazz, including: collective improvisation; the roles of the drums, bass, trumpet, clarinet, trombone, and piano in a song; call-and-response; the groove; and the breaks. Marsalis and his band illustrate these lessons through performances of “The Second Line,” “They All Ask’d For You,” “My Bucket’s Got a Hole in It,” and “St. Louis Blues.”
