  • Wynton back on stage for the Lincoln Center’s spring gala

    Wynton Marsalis played the trumpet on Monday night at the Apollo Theater after a monthlong hiatus caused by a lip inflammation. The occasion was Jazz at Lincoln Center’s fifth annual spring gala, which featured guest performances by Joe Cocker, Tracy Chapman, John Mayer, John Legend and Natalie Merchant.
    Throughout the evening Wynton was onstage with his septet, which served as a house band.

  • Latest about Wynton’s lips problem

    Due to a recurring inflammation of his lip, Wynton has been advised by his doctor to take several weeks off from playing the trumpet and so regretfully will have to cancel some of his scheduled engagements. It is Wynton’s hope that by resting now, he will avoid having this problem come up again.

  • Wynton’s lips and the August tour dates

    Due to cellulitis of the lip (inflammation of connective tissue), Wynton’s doctor instructed him not to perform for 30 days.
    So Wynton’s manager cancelled the August activities so that he can finally take the time needed to heal properly.

  • Why Wynton cancelled his performance in Montreal

    Yesterday Wynton cancelled his performance at the Montreal Jazz Fest because of injury to his lips.
    Now Wynton is back home. He has seen a doctor who advised him to take it easy for a few days, and he really appreciates everyone’s concern !!!
