Wynton’s activities at Marciac Jazz Festival 2007

This afternoon Wynton and the Quintet arrived in Marciac for the Jazz Festival 2007. Check out the program for all his activities in Marciac:

July 30: At 5 pm Wynton will speak at Jazz in Marciac’s 30th Opening Ceremony at the CafĂ© Musique, by the lake.
August 1: Rehearsals with the Quintet, Jared Grimes and speakers from Sweet Honey & Rock.
August 2: Concert at 11 pm. The Wynton Marsalis Quintet* with special guest Jared Grimes.

August 3:


  • 11.30 am: Wynton meets Mr. Jean-Louis Guillhaumon at the city hall
  • 4 pm to 5 pm: Masterclass with college pupils at Marciac College.
  • 6 pm: Wynton attends “Courses landaises” with Mr. Jean-Luois Guillhaumon. (People playing and running with cows in a bullring)

August 4:


  • 11.30 am: Wynton meets Mr. Jean-Louis Guillhaumon at the city hall
  • 4pm to 5 pm: Masterclass with children who are discovering the music of jazz under the tenth in the schoolyard
  • 6 pm: Wynton attends the dedication of the DVD “Marciac Memories” near City Hall.

August 5: Rehearsals with the Septet.
August 6: Rehearsals with the Septet.
August 7: Concert at 11 pm. Wynton Marsalis Septet**, special anniversary concert (The Marciac Suite and more)

  2. To get to Marciac from the U.S. Fly Air Tahiti Nui from LAX, or Air France to Paris. Take the TGV (high speed train)leaving from La Gare Montparnasse to Tarbes, which is about 25 minutes south of Marciac.

  3. Looking forward to seeing the film Luigi. Marciac looks like such a beautiful place to have a jazz festival. Any information as to how to get to Marciac if one wanted to attend next year’s festival traveling from the United States?
