Wynton Appears on NFL Films “Top 100 NFL Players of All Time” Presenting # 17, Barry Sanders

NFL Films, responsible for 46 years of award-winning television and film productions, debuts its latest highly-anticipated series on NFL Network entitled The Top 100: NFL’s Greatest Players

The question of ‘Who is the greatest player in NFL history?’ is a topic that links generations and resonates with all NFL fans. The series, rolling out over 10 one-hour episodes this fall, looks to tackle the timeless topic through a reveal of the top individuals counting down from 100 to 1, as determined by a blue-ribbon panel of knowledgeable football minds.

This panel includes both current and former NFL coaches, players and front office personnel, as well as noted NFL media members, Hall of Fame voters and league historians including: Ernie Accorsi (former Giants General Manager), Gil Brandt (former Cowboys VP of Player Personnel), Mike Brown (Bengals Owner), Pat Summerall (former NFL sportscaster), Dick Vermeil (former NFL head coach) and Peter King (NFL writer).

With a ballot of more than 250 pro football players from both the modern and pre-modern era, including current NFL players, The Top 100 will answer the question of whether players like Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, Lawrence Taylor, Deacon Jones, Eric Dickerson, Jim Thorpe and Ray Lewis make the list and where they rank.

The Top 100 have not only contributed the lasting legacy of the game, but have also shaped the lives of football fans from a variety of backgrounds, age groups and eras through memories and ‘remember when’ moments. It’s these unique and personal recollections that set this series apart as notable individuals from the world of sports and entertainment serve as ‘presenters’ for each featured player.

From New York Yankees Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, Olympic gold medal sprinter Carl Lewis and NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown to actors Burt Reynolds and Billy Dee Williams, filmmaker Spike Lee and author Jim Dent, these luminaries utilized their personal memories to declare why that player was ‘The Greatest.’

The episode revealing Barry Sanders as the number 17 all time player, presented by Wynton, aired on the NFL Network Thursday October 28, 2010. It can be viewed online at: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-total-access/09000d5d81bab0b3/Top-100-Barry-Sanders
