Wynton is preparing his fourth album for Blue Note

Wynton will go into the studio soon to record his fourth release for Blue Note. This time around Wynton will be recording an extended work still in progress entitled: From the Plantation to the Penitentiary.

The musicians have not been confirmed yet but will most likely be a quartet or quintet joined by the young “chanteuse” Jennifer Sanon. Wynton’s brother Delfeayo Marsalis will be the producer.

  4. Well… chanteuse refers more to a nightclub singer as Sonalii says. Just a nuance of differece, I suppose, but when I think of chanteuse as opposed to a “singer” Ithe word has more meaning. There’s a professional style associated (nightclub singer as being different from opera singer or pop singer) and likely a personal style as well. When I saw/heard/met Jennifer, she definitely had qualities that makes these distinctions clear. Mode of dress/attire and perhaps attitude are different. Why every singer is not a diva. Attitude, etc, comes into play. Now, perhaps the French use it just to mean all singers?

  7. What happened?! I thought I read Jennifer was a “chanteuse”? Now she’s just a “young singer”? Was that an online demotion or a figment of my imagination? (The latter is quite possible w/me!) I was gonna poke fun at the fancy-smancy term!
