With music directed by Wynton Marsalis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will dive into the best of the best of composer, pianist, and jazz orchestra leader, Duke Ellington, playing selections from his extensive songbook, written over the past century. From his early days at the Cotton Club when Duke first took the world by storm with hits like “Creole Love Call” and “Black and Tan Fantasy” to his later wave of classics like “Jack the Bear,” “Concerto for Cootie,” and “All Too Soon,” Duke set the standard for some of America’s greatest popular songs, while also breaking the boundaries of what jazz compositions could be.

Duke’s conceptual works—including his “Sacred Concerts” series and extended suites like Black, Brown & Beige, The Far East Suite, New Orleans Suite, and Latin American Suite—go even deeper.

Frederick P. Rose Hall, the home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, is located at Broadway at 60th Street in New York, New York.
