  1. I think it is a great disservice to Wynton and the musicians that played on this CD to equate the nomination received as some sort of politicking involved. There is a consistency to Wynton’s playing that is well beyond Grammy worthy. This album, like the many before, is a perfect example of the stellar performance Wynton is noted and appreciated for. Congratulations Wynton on the much deserved nomination!

  2. Dear ME
I am a little affended. First of all to hear
then capture a true live recording these days and to be able to hear the audience reaction and the one time only feels of a solo is a jewel of jazz not often enough captured in jazz. Maybe you would rather here wynton programmed on all pro tools. not me I just know he wil get a deserved grammy once like iI agree in this matter of a recording has been rare!

  3. To me, one of his best live CD’s! The chemistry between the band members is beautiful, as well as the connection that the band creates with the audience. You can really feel the soul of the musicians through their solos. Great album.

  5. I think that the album was GREAT! It’s the type of album I can feel. A true call and response. Reminds me of the reason music makes me feel good. Also reminds me of being down south in church where black brothers and sisters are testifying, not because they are intellectualizing the spirit but because they can feel the fibe in their GUTS. This is real music an expression of the audience, the spirit, the self……man it get’s you in a groove and I can dig it. This music comes from my culture. I don’t need a gut feeling about the intellect or politics just of the spirit.

  6. Intersting and unexpected critique from you me and I am very glad to hear your view. I have only listened to what was posted here though I have had the CD for a while. Will get to it soon. Perhaps you are an “instinctual animal” but I am also glad to hear you exrecise the intellect that must surely acompany such expressions of instinct in all of us “higher” life forms! Thanks for voicing your opinion.

  7. Interesting that Wynton receiving Grammy honor. Call me pessimist (though I am not) but I didn’t think the album was grammy when I heard it. I like it and it’s good but me thinks there is a little politicking involved here.

I do however think it’s about time he recieved honors for music. There have been enough awards, honors, doctorates etc.

Just my thoughts. I am an instinctual animal and I am expressing a gut feeling and an opinion.

    Please don’t be offended.
