Jazz At Lincoln Center Launches New Tuition Free Education Program
Jazz at Lincoln Center launches the Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra (JLCYO) program, a new tuition free initiative for local students.

Twenty high school student musicians from the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut) who meet the program admission requirements will be selected to comprise the JLCYO. The musicians will be provided with the opportunity to enhance their musical education with the finest professional training and performance opportunities. Applications are due on Friday, May 10th. -

Winners of 17th Essentially Ellington Competition 2012
Three high school jazz bands took top honors on Sunday night at the 17th Annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival, presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center. The bands were chosen by a panel of judges composed of distinguished jazz musicians and historians, including Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Artistic Director WYNTON MARSALIS, DAVID BERGER, BILL DOBBINS, JEFF HAMILTON and SHERMAN IRBY. The three top-placing bands were chosen from a field of 15 finalist bands that participated in the three-day Competition & Festival from May 4-6.

Live Webcast Announced for Essentially Ellington 2012
Jazz at Lincoln Center announces the competition at the 17th Annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival will be video streamed live online. The free webcast from the Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall on May 5th and 6th will feature performances by the fifteen competing high school jazz band finalists, as well as the announcement of the top placing bands. The video will also be available online for one week following the Competition & Festival.

Greg Scholl Named Executive Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center
Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) announced today that Greg Scholl will assume the position of Executive Director of JALC, beginning June 1. Mr. Scholl joins JALC as the not-for-profit arts organization enters its next phase of growth and celebrates its 25th anniversary in the upcoming 2012-13 programming season.
