    Up2Us (up2us.org), a New York based not-for-profit organization, will be holding its inaugural gala dinner at Tribeca Rooftop in New York City on June 4. The event will benefit the organization’s mission to advance sports as the solution to the obesity, youth violence and educational challenges facing America’s youth today. Internationally acclaimed musician and composer Wynton Marsalis will present Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with the Legacy Award, recognizing the NBA hall of famer for his 20-plus years of contribution to sport, education, and humanitarian efforts.

  • Wynton to Join The Lewis Nash Allstars in Benefit Concert at MIM, April 11, 2012

    The Lewis Nash Allstars with special guest Wynton Marsalis will perform in a benefit concert at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 at the Musical Instrument Museum Theater (MIM), 4725 E. Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix. The evening supports The Nash, the Valley’s new jazz center. 
    The event is co-produced by Jazz in Arizona, a nonprofit organization, and MIM. Seating is limited. Tickets are $150, $200 and $250 and available at www.jazzinaz.org. A pre-concert cocktail hour begins at 5:40 p.m. and a hosted reception follows the concert.

All artists are donating their services and Jazz at Lincoln Center is donating its venue and staff to raise much-needed funds for Irwin through The Jazz Foundation of America. JALC invites the jazz community and music fans to come together in support of Dennis Irwin, who is in need of immediate financial support for medical treatment and expenses as he battles a serious illness.
