A once in a life time opportunity – the 15 musicians who make up New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, including leader Wynton Marsalis, are not only “the greatest jazz ensemble working today” (Chicago Tribune) but also acclaimed music educators for whom spreading the gospel of jazz is a founding principle.
The Orchestra’s Jazz for Young People concerts are renowned for their success in illuminating this great art form and its development. As well as performing, the Orchestra will discuss the music, aiming their commentary “at young listeners unfamiliar with jazz, as well as those already smitten” (Chicago Tribune).
It is their mission to entertain, enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance, education and advocacy.
