  • PBS to honor Tony Bennett in music special with star-studded performances

    Sharon Percy Rockefeller, president and CEO of WETA Washington, D.C., today announced the talent and broadcast plans for “Tony Bennett: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song,” a PBS music special honoring Tony Bennett’s receipt of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.     Jazz at Lincoln Center announces its 3rd annual premier high school program, Summer Jazz Academy, in residence at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York from July 17 - 30.   • Wynton Marsalis awarded the National Humanities Medal by the National Endowment of the Humanities

    President Barack Obama today announced the distinguished recipients of the 2015 National Humanities Medal. The awardees include authors, a poet, physician, historian, chef, and a higher education program. President Obama will award the 2015 National Humanities Medals in conjunction with the National Medal of Arts during a White House ceremony on September 22. First Lady Michelle Obama will attend.
