Black Magic narrated by Wynton to broadcast on March 17
ESPN will televise its two-part documentary, Black Magic, narrated by Wynton Marsalis and Samuel L. Jackson, on March 16-17. Part 1 will be aired March 16, immediately following ESPN’s NCAA basketball tournament selection show, and Part 2 (narrated by Wynton) on March 17, both at 9 p.m ET, without commercial interruption.

Wynton is composing a new orchestral piece
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) and Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) have commissioned Wynton to compose a new orchestral piece. At the request of Wynton, ASO Music Director Robert Spano will serve as Wynton’s personal composition mentor, and will lead the ASO in the world premier performance during the NBAF’s 20th Anniversary season.

Congo Square’s Sanctified Blues promoted at Stanford University

From now through March 15, the cards will be made available to patrons at all Lively Arts performances and to customers at the Stanford Bookstore, Tresidder Express, the Track House Sport Shop, the Cantor Arts Center Gift Shop and the Stanford Shop at Stanford Shopping Center. Lively Arts plans to mail the cards to Stanford students, faculty and staff in early February and will make the cards available to its community partners, including the Palo Alto Unified School District and East Palo Alto’s educational program College Track. -

Wynton reading William Butler Yeats
On December 18, at Rose Hall, PBS taped Wynton reading William Butler Yeats’ The Wild Old Wicked Man and Broken Dreams. One of them will begin airing in between regular programming on PBS in April 2008 for National Poetry Month.
