  • Big Band Holidays Tour: JLCO with Wynton Marsalis and Cécile McLorin Salvant

    The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis and vocalist Cécile McLorin Salvant will add soul and swing to the holiday season as they embark on a new U.S. Big Band Holidays Tour beginning on December 5 (see complete tour dates below).
    On this first-time tour, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, which recently topped the Big Band Category in Downbeat magazine’s 2013 Reader’s Poll, will perform Swing-era and new big band arrangements of timeless holiday tunes.

  • Music From Pakistan: Featuring Sachal Jazz Ensemble, JLCO with Wynton Marsalis

    The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will collaborate with the Sachal Jazz Ensemble, marking the Ensemble’s U.S. debut performance.
    Master musicians from Pakistan, the *Sachal Jazz Ensemble* incorporates ancient instruments, such as sitar, sarod, tabla, and dholak into the sounds and rhythms of iconic jazz repertoire. This Ensemble’s unique rendition of the Dave Brubeck standard “Take Five” went viral on YouTube with more than half a million views to date. This collaboration is JALC’s latest installment in a string of cross-cultural investigations, touching upon Ghana and Spain, among others, through which the organization actualizes its mission to make jazz available globally by interweaving the sounds of jazz with an international array of musical styles.
