On Saturday, October 9th, our Jazz for Young people concert at the Teatro Mella was enthusiastically received by an eager and engagingly attentive audience. Several students were invited on stage, including the very talented 12 year-old bongo player Dayrón Rodríguez.
The warmth and sincerity of those in attendance speaks volumes of the profound power of a shared experience…this was followed by a New Orleans styled second line in the adjacent garden area lead by our very own Ken Mask, and band members Marcus Printup, Victor Goines and Chris Crenshaw.
The historic richness of the Cuban-New Orleans connection filled the afternoon Caribbean air.
