    On August 1, 2007, Wynton was rehearsing with his Quintet for the August 2, 2007, concert in Marciac. The following video-clip will take you behind the stages to appreciate how the musicians played and interacted together. Awesome tap dancer Jared Grimes was guest. Quintet personnel was: Wynton Marsalis (trumpet); Walter Blanding (sax); Dan Nimmer (piano); Carlos Henriquez (bass); Ali Jackson (drums).     Yesterday night, the Wynton Marsalis Septet, played in Marciac for the 30th Anniversary concert. Wynton paid a tribute to Marciac introducing the concert with these words: “No France…no New Orleans, no Jazz”. Then the band played tracks from Wynton’s album entitled The Marciac Suite: Loose Duck, Jean-Louis is Everywhere, Guy Lafitte, Marciac Fun, Marciac Moon, Mademoiselle de Gascony, Armagnac dreams, B is for Boussaget, For my Kids at College of Marciac, Sunflowers.     For two days, on August 5 and 6, Wynton rehearsed with his septet for the upcoming concert in Marciac. They played songs from the Marciac Suite: Loose Duck, Jean-Louis Is Everywhere, Mademoiselle D’Gascony, Armagnac Dreams, Marciac Fun, Marciac Moon, Guy Lafitte, B Is For Boussaget.   • Photo: Wynton’s masterclass in Marciac

    Yesterday and today, Wynton gave some masterclass for the guys in Marciac. On August 3, 2007, at 4 pm, the first masterclass was for the kids at Marciac’s College, while the second one, today, was for kids that still do not play an instrument at Marciac’s school. Wynton explained the history of jazz, the fundamental of rhythm, the swing, the shuffle, how to play the blues and so on.     Yesterday night, Wynton and his quintet performed in Marciac. They played songs from a new poem written by Wynton, and at the end of the concert people tributed a standing ovation to the band and to Jared Grimes.     Yesterday afternoon, from 2pm to 5.30 pm Wynton and his Quintet rehearsed with Jared Grimes (tap dancer) and speakers from Sweet Honey & Rock. They played some fresh new music, never released before…The young tap dancer (24 years old) is fantastic and fitted perfectly in Wynton’s music.     Yesterday afternoon, Wynton spoke in Marciac for the official opening of the Jazz Festival. He was introduced by the producer Jean-Louis Guilhaumon.     This afternoon Wynton and the Quintet arrived in Marciac for the Jazz Festival 2007. This is the program for all his activities in Marciac: July 30: At 5 pm Wynton will speak at Jazz in Marciac’s 30th Opening Ceremony at the Café Musique, by the lake.     Yesterday afternoon, at 4:40 PM Wynton was on stage at Parc Floral de Paris with his Quintet, to play at Paris Jazz Festival 2007. They played selections from “The Magic Hour” and from the latest album: “From the Plantation to the Penitentiary”. The concert was beautiful and a lot of people attended the performance in the lovely Parc Floral, in the middle of the Bois de Vincennes.
