  • Wynton to play a benefit concert for Young Scholars Charter School

    On October 4, 2007, the Young Scholars Charter School (YSCS) will host a benefit concert featuring Wynton Marsalis.
    The concert will be held at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts (260 South Broad Street Avenue of the Arts, Philadelphia PA) and all proceeds will benefit the school.

  • Wynton to play and record with Marcus Roberts

    On October 6, Wynton will be with his great friend and former pianist Marcus Robert, the J Master, and his trio, for a recording session. Wynton is to perform on 3 numbers. No major record label set to release. (more info to come…)

    On September 23, 2007, PBS will air “THE WAR”, a new seven-part documentary series directed and produced by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. The new film explores the history and horror of the Second World War from an American perspective by following the fortunes of so-called ordinary men and women who become caught up in one of the greatest cataclysms in human history.

    Wynton Marsalis has been known to spark controversy as a result of his rigid views on jazz pedigree, but he backs them up with passion, logic, and raw skill with his horn. He’s easily the most important voice of the trumpet in decades, and for the past 20 years, he’s been the artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. This Tuesday, September 11, he brings the fruits of that project to one of the Paramount Theater’s most impressive shows of the season.
