Wynton received an honorary doctorate at NYU Commencement
On May 10, Wynton received an honorary doctorate during 2007 New York University commencement ceremonies in Washington Square Park, in New York City. Wynton plays with winners of Essentially Ellington 2007
Yesterday night, three high school jazz bands took top honors in Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 12th Annual Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival. Wynton speaks about Congo Square on JALC Radio
On Jazz at Lincoln Center Radio, the currently featured show is Congo Square. You can listen to the complete show (Real Player required) or listen to some interesting interview about the composition. In the first interview, Amina Addy describes the difficulty of the collaboration. Then Wynton talks about the technical challenges associated with the piece, and describes the structure of the piece. Wynton gave masterclass at Onondaga Community College

Wynton with Drue Kataoka at Dizzy’s Jazz Club
On December 14, Wynton hosted a spectacular event for Around the World New York at Dizzy’s Jazz Club at JALC. Overlooking a sparkling Manhattan skyline with Central Park in the foreground, ENSO 2007, the new project by Drue Kataoka, was showed. Drue performed a musical tribute to Wynton on the flute and he responded with his trumpet with Victor Goines and Dan Nimmer.
