Wynton played and spoke live for NBC Nightly News
Yesterday night, Wynton played live from Allen Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center. He spoke with anchor Brian Williams for NBC Nightly News about the state of his hometown and the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans, on this, the second Mardi Gras since Hurricane Katrina. He closed the segment playing with Wycliffe Gordon on the trombone, Victor Goines on the clarinet, Carlos Henriquez on the bass, Ali Kackson on the drums. The World Premieres of Ted Nash’s Portrait In Seven Shades
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will premiere saxophonist Ted Nash‘s musical composition Portrait in Seven Shades in a concert entitled Jazz and Art on February 22, 23, 24 at Rose Theater in Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City, depicting the influence of one art form on another. Jazz at Lincoln Center Radio remembers Ed Bradley
The nationally syndicated Jazz at Lincoln Center Radio will offer a one-hour tribute program in remembrance of its longtime host, the late Ed Bradley. For radio stations, “Jazz at Lincoln Center, Remembering Ed Bradley” will be available on the Content Depot after December 26th and will uplink on Thursday, December 28th at 5:00pm ET. The program will be heard by listeners of more than 240 stations across the country between December 28th and January 11th. Wynton invited to visit Antigua and Barbuda islands
Wynton has been invited to check out the many attractions of Antigua and Barbuda as the island’s tourism department joined him recently for his “Red Hot Holiday Stomp.” Antigua and Barbuda’s Ministry of Tourism in the US partnered with Wynton in hosting the concert, which attracted over 1,200 fans and jazz aficionados to the Frederick B. Rose Theatre. Antigua and Barbuda’s culinary master, Chef Murphy brought the house down with his delectable appetizers and Wynton stopped by the Antigua and Barbuda display to sample lobster bisque and “drunk and disorderly” fruit.
