    On October 25, 26, 27 , at Rose Theater, the JLCO with Wynton Marsalis eases into the lilting, richly textured and deeply romantic world of one of jazz’s pre-eminent arrangers and the master of impressionistic sound, the legendary Gil Evans with selections from Sketches of Spain, Porgy and Bess and more.   • Wynton plays for the Benny Carter Centennial

    From October 15-21, Jazz at Lincoln Center opens the 2007-08 season with the Benny Carter Centennial throughout Frederick P. Rose Hall on Broadway at 60th St. in New York City . Wynton with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will perform the music of this legendary jazz musician on October 19 & 20, 2007. Anchor and Managing Editor of “NBC Nightly News” Brian Williams will host the October 19th concert and former New York Giants running back and “Today Show” correspondent Tiki Barber will host the October 20th concert.     Last week, Wynton and his Septet performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall to celebrate the 15th anniversary of In This House, On This Morning. Thanks to JALC we have some nice photos from the event. In addition, on May 24 Wynton was interviewed by Harry Smith for CBS The Early Show. Harry had a dream come true when he got to spend an afternoon playing the tuba with the Septet and Wynton during rehearsals at Lincoln Center.     On May 24, 25, 2007, Wynton and his Septet performed in Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall to celebrate the 15th anniversary of In This House, On This Morning. The New York Times has just published a review about the first evening. You can also take a look to a video-clip of the Wynton Marsalis Septet playing Holy Ghost, one of the most exciting tunes from that album. It was shooted live in Italy on 1993 !     Following you’ll find the set lists for the Congo Square Tour (June 2007) and the Full Steam Ahead Tour (July 2007). The Full Steam Ahead Set List only applies to the Full Steam Ahead Tour, which is only being performed in the North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam), Istanbul, and the U.K. The rest of the venues will have a different program, “The Music of Ornette Coleman”, (set list to be published).   • Wynton composes a mass for the Abyssinian Baptist Church

    On April 10, 11 & 12, 2008, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will premiere a special mass composed by Wynton Marsalis to commemorate the 200th anniversary of The Abyssinian Baptist Church. Combining jazz and gospel traditions, this liturgy of the Abyssinian service is the first time collaboration for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Rev. Dr. Calvin O. Butts, III and the church choir.     Fifteen years to the day that the Wynton Marsalis Septet debuted In This House, On This Morning at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, most of the musicians from the original recording will reunite to perform the gospel and jazz musical work on May 24, 25 & 26, 2007 at 8 pm in Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall.     Wynton is going to host the final Jazz for Young People Concert of the season entitled, “How Do We Create Jazz Moods?” The performances will take place on Saturday, May 19th at Frederick P.     On Monday, May 14, 2007, Jazz at Lincoln Center will present its 6th Annual Spring Gala, themed Spring Swing! The evening will include a a 7:30pm benefit concert in Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center. The concert will be followed by a gala dinner dance at 9pm. The Spring Gala will feature some of the greatest talents in music today, performing in collaboration with the Wynton Marsalis Septet, including Jimmy Buffett, Lenny Kravitz and Derek Trucks.
