  • Jazz at Lincoln Center announces 2008-09 programming

    Yesterday, March 4, 2008, Wynton with Executive Director Adrian Ellis and Chairman of the Board Lisa Schiff announced the 2008-09 JALC season, featuring over 3,000 events including concerts, education events, broadcasts, worldwide touring (see attached chronology) and new partnership with MasterCard Worldwide. The 2008-09 season marks the organization’s 22nd season of programming and the fifth season in its home, Frederick P. Rose Hall. During the Press Conference, the Wynton Marsalis Quintet also played the song entitled: Razor Rim (one of the tracks of the new album “He and She” to be out soon…).   • Kings of the Crescent City at JALC

    On January 11 & 12, 2008, 8pm, at Rose Theater – Jazz at Lincoln Center, “Kings of the Crescent City” will celebrate the music of Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Joe “King” Oliver and Sidney Bechet. Led by Victor Goines (clarinet, soprano saxophone), the ensemble comprised predominately of New Orleans natives will consist of Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews (trumpet), Marcus Printup (trumpet), Wycliffe Gordon (trombone), Don Vappie (guitar), Jonathan Batiste (piano), Reginald Veal (bass) and Herlin Riley (drums).     From October 15-21, Jazz at Lincoln Center opens the 2007-08 season with the Benny Carter Centennial throughout Frederick P. Rose Hall on Broadway at 60th St. in New York City .
