    Wednesday, March 19, 2008, Marian McPartland celebrated her 90th birthday in a style befitting the “Grande Dame of Piano Jazz” with a little help from friends including Norah Jones and Wynton Marsalis at Jazz at Lincoln Center. “Getting up here is really a job,” quipped McPartland, who has been slowed by arthritis in her legs and is recovering from a fractured pelvis, after being assisted onstage.   • Jazz at Lincoln Center announces 2008-09 programming

    Yesterday, March 4, 2008, Wynton with Executive Director Adrian Ellis and Chairman of the Board Lisa Schiff announced the 2008-09 JALC season, featuring over 3,000 events including concerts, education events, broadcasts, worldwide touring (see attached chronology) and new partnership with MasterCard Worldwide. The 2008-09 season marks the organization’s 22nd season of programming and the fifth season in its home, Frederick P. Rose Hall. During the Press Conference, the Wynton Marsalis Quintet also played the song entitled: Razor Rim (one of the tracks of the new album “He and She” to be out soon…).     On October 24, 2007, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m, Wynton will perform at Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum (2 East 91st Street, New York) for the Special Exhibit of Nathan George Horwitt Archives and Tribute to Museum Watch Dial. He will play with the piano player Jonathan Batiste from New Orleans. The event is promoted by Movado, in partnership with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and Baryshnikov Arts Center, to celebrate 60 years of modern design and the 2007 Future Legends Awards recipients.
