    Wynton is coming back from his tour with JLCO in New Orleans. He commented live on his Facebook and Twitter profile, from the Big Easy. Read his live report from his weekend in NOLA.   • Wynton to perform at New Orleans Jazz Festival on April 24-25

    Wynton is now in New Orleans, to perform at Jazz & Heritage Festival. The first concert will take place tomorrow April 24, at 4:40 PM at Congo Square – “My Louisiana Stage”. He will perform “Congo Square” with Yacub Addy and Odadaa! and the JLCO. On Saturday, April 25, Wynton will perform with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra at 5:30 PM at WWOZ Jazz Tent. The concert will be broadcast by WWOZ 90.7 FM and some highlights from the concert will be broadcast on May 2-3 by AT&T Music.   • Wynton to perform Jazz, Tap & Theater at JALC

    On April 16-28, 2009, Wynton and JLCO will perform new music for three concerts entitled: Jazz, Tap and Theater. It features music, dance, oration and world premiere music by trombonist Vincent Gardner. Wynton Marsalis’ “Spaces” will also be performed, five movements showcasing the tap dance of Dewitt Fleming Jr. and Jared Grimes. Gardner’s work, called the “Jesse B. Semple Suite,” is inspired by the great 20th century author Langston Hughes and his collection of “Simple Stories” about the fictional Jesse B.   • Wynton and JLCO to start the January 2009 USA tour

    Today, Wynton and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) will start the January 2009 USA tour from Wilmington (from January 15 through January 30). They are going to perform at Kenan Auditorium tonight. They will also play in Charleston, Virginia Beach, Chapel Hill, Washington, Miami, etc..     JALC and The Rockefeller Foundation today announced the full slate of performers that will take part in “A Celebration Of America” in the Kennedy Center’s Eisenhower Theater on the occasion of the Presidential Inauguration and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, 2009 at 7 p.m. Angela Bassett and Courtney B.     Norah Jones will make a special guest appearance at the Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis concerts at Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center on February 9 and February 10 at 8 p.m. Norah Jones is scheduled to perform a selection of songs on both nights.   • Wynton to play for Dr. George Butler at Dizzy’s Jazz Club

    On December 8, 2008, at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, Wynton and his Quintet (Walter Blanding, sax; Dan Nimmer, piano; Carlos Henriquez, bass; Ali Jackson, drums) will play to remember Dr. George Butler. Mr. Butler, a prominent jazz record executive for the Columbia, Blue Note and United Artists labels from the late 1960s to the late 1990s, died last April 9, 2008.
