  • Tap Meets Flamenco at JALC

    On April 24, 25 & 26, 2008, at Rose Theater, in a special concert event called Tap Meets Flamenco, Spanish pianist Chano Dominguez performs his work De Cadi a New Orleans with his flamenco ensemble and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra also performs selections from The Vitoria Suite, which the city of Vitoria, Spain commissioned Wynton Marsalis to write and “Evolution of the Groove” featuring drummer Herlin Riley.

  • Wynton plays in Herlin Riley’s new CD

    On his second Criss Cross date, Herlin Riley, drummer with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra since 1992, assembles an all-star lineup from different eras of the band.
    The new album is entitled: Cream Of The Crescent and the front line comprises Wycliffe Gordon on trombone, Victor Goines on saxes and clarinet, and Wynton on trumpet, with bassist Reginald Veal and pianist Eric Lewis.

    Legendary drummer Joe Chambers performs and composes a new commission for the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra that illustrates the dynamic role of the drum in jazz. Augmented by a script written by celebrated writer Stanley Crouch, LCJO drummer Herlin Riley also leads the orchestra in a historical journey of the groove, from the talking drum of Africa to its place as the heartbeat of modern jazz.
