Wynton at Emeril Live

Yesterday, Wynton Marsalis was on Food Network’s Emeril Live, where he also announced that he will return to New Orleans to produce a television special marking the hurricane’s anniversary.
“Millions of Americans, and, indeed, millions more around the world watched with horror as events unfolded in the wake of Hurricane Katrina,” Wynton said. “A year later on August 29, we are convinced that as people see the stories of those who have reclaimed their lives they will watch with pride and resolve to help get the job finished.”

Titled ‘New Orleans: Rebuilding the Soul of America…One Year Later,’ the special will take place at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and will be helmed by top TV special producers John Cossette (Grammy Awards) and Don Mischer (Olympics Opening/Closing Ceremonies). As the platinum sponsor for the special, Harrah’s New Orleans Casino earmarked $1.5 million to provide financial and logistical support.

This Emeril Live episode featuring Wynton, will be aired on July 09, 2006 (8:00 PM ET/PT) and on July 10, 2006 (3:00 AM ET/PT)

  1. It was nice to see Wynton relaxed and having a bit of fun, playing drums with the band and enjoying some of his New Orleans favorites. The preview of the Congo Square premiere was amazing. It looked like it was quite a show. Will this be part of the upcoming special?
