  5. The atmosphere at Marciac is very relaxed and whilst the actual concert tickets are not cheap (around 50 Euros for the best seats) there is a lot of free stuff during the day in the main square where you can sit in one of the many cafes and listen all day (except lunchtime- it is France after all!).

Sonalii asks about getting to Marciac – well the nearest international airport is Toulouse with flights to several US destinations and many European cities, though it might be cheaper and better to fly via London and on from there with the low cost carrier Ryanair into Pau (which is the nearest airport to Marciac).

I have a large luxurious farmhouse which we rent out with large pool etc near Pau, you can find details at www.frenchcountryfarmhouse.com (frenchcountryfarmhouse dot com)which is a bit over an hour away and very suitable for adult groups. However, individual travellers should contact the Marciac tourist office who offer an accommodation service and aim to find rooms for you in or near Marciac. Good accommodation is very difficult to find and is always booked up a very long time in advance.

If you visit Marciac you should take time to see why Wynton likes the area and its people so much – for example as we headed for our car after last nights concert there were groups of people sitting down (at 2.15am)in a restaurant to eat an after-concert dinner which I think would have finished around 5am – so come and see what our lifestyle is all about!!

  6. Having left JIM, against my willings and because of finances, feel absolutely jealous of marciacais just thinking on tomorrow’s concert.

What I saw and listened past 2nd. was enormous, amazing, surprising…..

Wynton’s new work “Music, deep rivers in my soul” is big, fat, round.
    Imaginative, innovative, discovering new posibilities.
It’s more than just musi, it’s also literature, dance, painting colors…..a full work or ART (and full communication).

He’s showing all his creative talents as a complet artist. CONGRATULATIONS.
    In the right track.

All the best for tomorrow’s concert (waiting for the report) and much “merde!” (what it means good luck in french for show business people).
    Take care.
    Astonished C.

Jurzy (in case you are around here), as it seems everybody is on holidays (lately got no answers at all) would you mind to be my go-between and transmit this?. Thanks!
    CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Wynton is a Genius. I admire him a lot as well as his family ability to play this immortal form of ART called JAZZ.

  8. Sonalii, it looks like the Septet is scheduled to be broadcast as well, there is a listing on the Inter France page that comes up.

Wynton, is the the jug in the Griot NY piece symbolic for the Frenchman’s balloon from Sunday’s in Buddy Bolden’s Lincoln Park? Perhaps that is one of it’s meanings…

  9. … Just to thank you guys for coming to London the other week. It was great being at the Barbican Centre, and better still fulfilling a 24 year – old dream to watch you live !!!

The various train renditions simply epitomises the master and the genius that you are.

    Once again, thank you.
