As you know, on Monday, September 22, Wynton was in Washington D.C. to speak at the National Press Club.

Listen to Wynton’s speech Play (MP3, 35mb) and download the transcript as a PDF file.

Wynton also announced at the National Press Club the launch of an interactive educational website as a companion to the Jazz for Young People Curriculum produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The website was developed to enhance JALC’s popular Jazz for Young People Curriculum with original audio and video clips, photos, biographies, and dynamic activities for students, teachers and parents. The general public will also find this site useful as a resource for learning about jazz music and history.
The website will ultimately connect users to 17-plus lessons that draw upon concepts from the Curriculum lessons, and an area for additional information about the kit.
Each interactive lesson explores musical concepts, styles, and jazz practitioners using a variety of media. The first three lessons to be launched correspond to the Louis Armstrong, Improvisation, and Latin Jazz lessons in the Curriculum. Additional lessons will be added throughout the year.
