Jazz at Lincoln Center proudly opens the 2013–14 season with Ahmad Jamal & Wynton Marsalis on September 19–21 at 8pm in Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, New York, New York.

NEA Jazz Master Ahmad Jamal, still in prime form in his ninth decade, is a leading architect of Miles Davis’ ‘50s quintet and a universal influence on piano trio vocabulary through his use of real-time cues, bass vamps, and intoxicating rhythms. For this special concert event, Jamal will embed his quartet, featuring Reginald Veal (bass), Herlin Riley (drums), along with Manolo Badrena (percussion), within the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. Members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will debut new arrangements of songs from Jamal’s canon, and the two bands will come together to perform them, employing Jamal’s innovative conception. A free pre-concert discussion will take place nightly at 7pm at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Irene Diamond Education Center.

Ahmad Jamal & Wynton Marsalis will be available via live web stream on September 19 at 8pmET on wyntonmarsalis.org/live.
