    Yesterday night, the Wynton Marsalis Septet, played in Marciac for the 30th Anniversary concert. Wynton paid a tribute to Marciac introducing the concert with these words: “No France…no New Orleans, no Jazz”. Then the band played tracks from Wynton’s album entitled The Marciac Suite: Loose Duck, Jean-Louis is Everywhere, Guy Lafitte, Marciac Fun, Marciac Moon, Mademoiselle de Gascony, Armagnac dreams, B is for Boussaget, For my Kids at College of Marciac, Sunflowers.     For two days, on August 5 and 6, Wynton rehearsed with his septet for the upcoming concert in Marciac. They played songs from the Marciac Suite: Loose Duck, Jean-Louis Is Everywhere, Mademoiselle D’Gascony, Armagnac Dreams, Marciac Fun, Marciac Moon, Guy Lafitte, B Is For Boussaget. The members of Wynton Marsalis Septet in Marciac 2007 are: Wynton Marsalis (trumpet), Wycliffe Gordon (trombone), Victor Goines (tenor sax, soprano sax, clarinets), Sherman Irby (alto sax), Herlin Riley (drums), Jonathan Bastiste (piano), Rodney Whitaker (bass).     Last week, Wynton and his Septet performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall to celebrate the 15th anniversary of In This House, On This Morning. Thanks to JALC we have some nice photos from the event. In addition, on May 24 Wynton was interviewed by Harry Smith for CBS The Early Show. Harry had a dream come true when he got to spend an afternoon playing the tuba with the Septet and Wynton during rehearsals at Lincoln Center.   • Wynton celebrates 15th Anniversary of In This House, On This Morning

    Fifteen years to the day that the Wynton Marsalis Septet debuted In This House, On This Morning at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, most of the musicians from the original recording will reunite to perform the gospel and jazz musical work on May 24, 25 & 26, 2007 at 8 pm in Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall.   • Wynton performs at JALC Spring Gala 2007

    On Monday, May 14, 2007, Jazz at Lincoln Center will present its 6th Annual Spring Gala, themed Spring Swing! The evening will include a a 7:30pm benefit concert in Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center. The concert will be followed by a gala dinner dance at 9pm. The Spring Gala will feature some of the greatest talents in music today, performing in collaboration with the Wynton Marsalis Septet, including Jimmy Buffett, Lenny Kravitz and Derek Trucks.
