    It’s not every day that someone can say they got musical advice from a jazz great.
    But that’s exactly what Providence St. Mel freshman Jessica Bailey got when Wynton Marsalis visited the West Garfield Park school on Tuesday.
    Marsalis spoke to students during a morning assembly, peppering his speech with colorful anecdotes about life and music. “Practice, practice, practice” is what Bailey, an aspiring soprano singer, gleaned from his hour-long speech.

  • Restaurants and Radio Stations Celebrate Wynton All Over the World

Wynton Marsalis fans are invited to enjoy a New Orleans inspired meal and help Share Our Strength eradicate childhood hunger in America.  Participating restaurants across the country are serving New Orleans inspired “specials” on their menus this week and will donate a portion of the proceeds to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry program.

Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. Winners in 33 categories including outstanding live sports special, live series, sports documentary, studio show, promotional announcements, play-by-play personality and studio analyst were honored.
