Wynton to receive the National Medal of Arts
U.S. President George Bush plans to present the 2005 National Humanities Medals and National Medals of Arts in Oval Office ceremonies Thursday. Wynton is among those who will receive a National Medal of Arts. In addition to Wynton, this year’s Medal of Arts honorees are author Louis Auchincloss; conductor James DePriest; musician Paquito D’Rivera; arts advocate Leonard Garment; artist Ollie Johnston; musician Wynton Marsalis; singer Dolly Parton; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; and dancer Tina Ramirez.
