  • Wynton interviewed by CBS News and The Hook

    As you know, Wynton is on tour now with JLCO. While on the road he was interviewed by The Hook, a Charlottesville’s Newspaper, for his concert on September 11, and by CBS News. His concert at Peace Center in Greenville (September 13, 2007) was reviewed by the GreenvilleOnLine, and the concert in Baltimore, on September 8 was reviewed by the Baltimore Citypaper.     Wynton was at the Barbican (London) yesterday night, with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. The concert was reviewed by the Evening Standard, by The Independent, the Times Online, the Guardian Unlimited and the Telegraph.     Tonight Wynton is in Aspen with the JLCO and Odadda! to play Congo Square. Here you have an article about the concert on Aspen Times.     On June 20, Wynton appeared on “Tavis Smiley” to help promote his new CD, Congo Square. During the interview, Wynton and Tavis Smiley discussed Wynton’s passion for education as he is the co-founder and artistic director of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Program.     Congo Square tour started on June 14 from Rochester. Here is a review of the concert by Democrat and Chronicle. Wynton was also interviewed by the Philadelphia Tribune for the concert in Philadelphia (review by the Philadelphia Inquirer), by the Pocono Record for the event at the Mountain Laurel Center in Bushkill, and by WCPN Ideastream (mp3 audio) for the upcoming concert in Cleveland (June 18). In the interview fro WCPN, Ideastream music director Bobby Jackson caught up Yacub Addy’s wife and manager, Amina as well as Wynton, who talked about Congo Square and the African connections.   • Wynton is on tour to perform Congo Square

    From today, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton and Odadaa! with Yacub Addy will tour the critically-acclaimed work, Congo Square, written by Wynton and Mr. Addy, to 11 U.S. cities. The 24 musicians will perform the celebrated musical experience that had its premiere in New Orleans last spring. A CD of Congo Square is available on tour only right now, and will be released in the fall.
