I’m a bit younger than the big band era. Yet I am a musician who has no formal music training, and I play everything by ear. I usualy focus on guitars but I do love the horns I have picked up.
Yesterday I finished mixing a big band era styled song.. or at least I THINK I did.. I would love ANYONE who has an ear for big band music to PLEASE take a quick listen and shoot me in the right direction as to what I am doing that might make it more authentic.. I know it is busy, but many of the songs of the era I am trying to capture are busy.
When I hear big band and swing it really perks my ear up.. I am shooting for early 30’s to late 40’s type vibe..
ANY thoughts.. would be extremely valuable as I am a bit out of my league on this one..

Thanks for any help.. i’m kind of shooting in the dark.
To Big Band Advice needed badly.
I know I am very late replying, but only just saw your message.
I am not able to hear your created music but I am very interested in what you are trying to do.
I would like to know more about how you are creating the sound.
I am a long time musician but sadly no bands around where I am living. I am English and lived in West Virginia here for 5 years.
I decided to “go it alone” and create my own big band by Multitracking with Sonar 8.
If you would like to hear a sample or two, let me know. I play the Saxophones and use the Yamaha WX5 wind instrument to create the other sounds, Trumpet etc.
I would love to hear from you and know how you are progressing.

Like Brian, I wasn’t able to hear any of your music. Don’t be discourage if you don’t have any formal music training or lessons. If you are a musician and know how to play some instruments then go for it man.
