I drove by Danny Barker’s house.  It’s been condemned since Hurricane Katrina hit, as it went under water.  But the condition looks better than most of the other abandonned homes on the street, and all the surrounding houses are up and running.  It’s just overgrown.  It was assessed at $1000.  Seems like a good candidate for historic preservation. 

I didn’t realize that it was Danny Barker himself who wrote that blue book “Buddy Bolden and the Last Days of Storyville”.  Apparently, there two other books by Mr. Barker that are out of print.
