Wynton Marsalis Discussion Forum

Do any of you have any different types of music influences you put into your music? For example, im trying to get a different sound. my main jazz influences are miles, armstrong, and cannonball and my other music influeneces are the violent femmes, the smiths, radiohead. i want to try to put these influences altogether. are any of you doing something similar or have any tips?
