Wynton Marsalis Discussion Forum

I play a on a silver trumpet and also on a rose brass flugelhorn and noticed that on my trumpet i get a brighter sound that sounds great with concert and less bluesy jazz music, but on flugelhorn I get a very bluesy tone good for jazz balads and blues music. So what i’m wondering is if the plating contributes to this and….Is one plating more desirable then an other and why?.....Thanks alot!
