I finally met him!! He is my god…whoa am I soo lucky!
Congratulations Amy !
Where did you meet him ?
I met him funny enough, in my home town in howard county md. his lincoln center jazz band was in town and i caught the show and was the only fool in love with him enough i guess to sneak back stage. i figured it would of been worth a month in jail at least anways :O)
Hey Amy, that’s funny because I think I was at the show too. I didn’t go to the concert, I just went backstage and Wynton and this other guy and me jammed to blue train. It was fun fun.
wow that’s awesome. i was back there for a while and didn’t see or hear any playing going on, but i must of left before they got started. when did that happen. did you just bring your horn with you and start playin along lol?
One of the reasons why I like Wynton (and LCJO) is they are friendly and approachable. The make you feel truly welcome. You get the feeling that they appreciate you coming out to hear them play. After most shows he will meet with people and no matter how badly he is mobbed - he is always patient and charming.
I saw Wynton at the Kennedy Center in DC this past Sunday. I play trumpet and I asked him a few questions about some problems I was having. He told me to bring my horn next time he was in town and he would help me out. Later he was playing the piano and singing the blues in his dressing room. I was encouraged to join in a chorus. It was really cool. We need more artists as giving as Mr. Marsalis and LCJO.
